How to report a suspected calculation error, a defect, or a correction — and what to include so the report can be acted on.

This site is static and deliberately ships no contact form. A form with nowhere to send its contents would only look busy, so this page gives you the shape of a useful report instead.

What you are reporting

  • General questions

    Something about the site that is not a defect, a wrong number, or a privacy matter.

    • What you are trying to work out.
    • Which tool or page you are looking at.

  • A calculation looks wrong

    The most valuable report the project can receive. A suspected arithmetic error is treated as a defect to reproduce, not as user error.

    • The exact inputs and their units, not a rounded paraphrase of them.
    • The output you received and the value you expected.
    • The calculation or reference behind the value you expected.
    • Whether the method panel on the tool page matches what you thought the tool did.

  • Feedback on a method

    A formula that is correct but unusual for your field, or a model choice that should have been stated as an assumption.

    • Which tool, and which part of its stated method.
    • The alternative formulation or scope you would expect.
    • A published source for it.

  • A website defect

    Broken layout, a control that does not respond, a saved item that has disappeared, or a page that will not load.

    • The URL and what you did immediately before.
    • What happened, and what you expected instead.
    • Your browser and operating system, and whether dark mode was involved.

  • A content or citation correction

    A reference table value, a citation, a unit, or explanatory text that is wrong or badly attributed.

    • The passage or table row, quoted.
    • The corrected text.
    • The source that supports the correction.

  • A privacy or data request

    A question about what is stored, or a request that something be removed.

    • What you are asking about.
    • Whether the item is something saved in your own browser — if so, the Privacy Policy explains how to remove it directly, since no copy exists elsewhere.

Most of the information below is not polite detail. With the exact inputs, units, and the value you expected, a suspected wrong result can be reproduced and checked without a conversation.
